Accepted papers are assigned individual DOIs and published openly online. The journal accepts manuscripts in English and publishes various formats, including original empirical papers, theoretical research, literature reviews, and case studies. Research directions encompass corporate strategy and innovation/entrepreneurship in emerging markets, financial development and digital finance, industrial upgrading and the business environment, cross-border investment and international trade, public governance and policy evaluation, as well as digital transformation and ESG practices. Comparative studies across countries and regions in emerging markets are also welcomed. There are no submission fees; an Article Processing Charge (APC) is applied only upon acceptance. Rejected manuscripts incur no charges, and no additional fees are levied for page length or supplementary figures/tables. All publications adhere to international academic publishing ethics standards, with metadata properly archived. The journal strictly complies with the COPE guidelines for academic publishing ethics.
Editorial Orientation and Publishing Features
In the current international open-access publishing landscape for management and economics, many top-tier journals are centered on theoretical frameworks from developed markets, with research paradigms biased toward mature economies. Topics concerning emerging markets are often treated merely as supplementary cases. Existing similar journals tend to focus heavily on pure theoretical modeling or macroeconomic aggregate analysis, leaving limited space for SME practices, local institutional constraints, differentiated regional experiences, and frontline industry management cases. Consequently, research voices from local scholars in emerging economies such as Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Latin America are easily marginalized.
JEMM strives to form a complementary and symbiotic academic ecosystem with existing excellent journals in the field. While emphasizing rigorous theoretical construction and empirical testing, the journal equally values frontline corporate practices, country-specific case studies, and policy implementation experiences. It aims to bridge the academic barriers between university researchers, policy analysts, and corporate practitioners. With a global perspective on developing economies rather than being confined to a single national context, the journal pays special attention to emerging markets in the Asia-Pacific region. It encourages the extraction of original theories based on local institutional environments and cultural contexts, rather than simply applying Western mature market theoretical models. Grounded in the local context of emerging markets, the journal integrates multi-level research across macro-policies, meso-industries, and micro-enterprises. The equal emphasis on theoretical research and industry cases is the core strength of JEMM, providing an equitable international academic publishing window for global researchers in emerging markets.
In terms of publishing operations, the journal fully adheres to the COPE ethical framework, clearly defining the rights and responsibilities of editors, reviewers, and authors. It has established comprehensive management systems for corrections, retractions, and data reproducibility. Fee structures are open and transparent, with no hidden costs. All publications are assigned DOIs, and metadata is properly archived to ensure the traceability of academic achievements. Adhering to a stable quarterly publication schedule, the journal leverages open access to eliminate reading barriers, facilitating the global dissemination of emerging market research and promoting the translation of academic research into industrial practices and public policies.
